Richard Sr. - Korea
Richard Barton, a retired Master Sergeant with nearly 35 years of distinguished service in the U.S. military, founded Operation: The Shepherd’s Watch to support veterans transitioning from active duty to civilian life and to assist during natural disasters.
Richard’s military career began in the U.S. Navy in 1989, where he served in mine warfare until 1997. Transitioning to the U.S. Army, Richard continued to serve with dedication, ultimately being medically retired on July 4, 2024. Throughout his service, he held roles as an infantryman and as base engineer to improve base infrastructure, always leading from the front.
Inspired by his father, Richard Barton Sr., an Army Ranger, Richard officially launched Operation: The Shepherd’s Watch on February 28, 2026. (Dad's birthday) His mission is to create a supportive network for veterans, ensuring they have the resources and community needed to thrive in civilian life and to respond effectively to crises.
Richard’s leadership philosophy is simple: Always Lead from the Front and continue standing watch. Through Operation: The Shepherd’s Watch, he aims to give back to the community that has given him so much, ensuring that no veteran stands alone.
GOD BLESS THE AMERICAN SOLDIER AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
